Henrik Ibsen (1828-1905), Anton Chekhov (1860-1904) and August Strindberg (1849-1912), leaders and innovators of modern drama, create characters that cling pathologically to a single objective that blinds them to better options for health and happiness. Together, the trajectories of dramatic characters in Ibsen, Chekhov and Strindberg provide readers with perspectives with which to direct their own actions in the real world of today.
