The Chinese political system has an intrinsic attractiveness, one amplified by recent Western media's depiction of a booming China and declining West. Whether such a system is sustainable long-term, however, is very difficult to predict. Through the stories of a handful of brave individuals, this book asks whether the system created since the beginning of the opening up and reform era in the 80s has delivered, or is capable of delivering to the Chinese Citizens, two simple promises made since the Chinese Communist Party took power in 1949: Justice and Freedom of Speech. Tom Rousseau lives in China since more than 20 years. Chinese Heroes is his first book.
