The Council won't let Halla and her friends go to the Surface. After a fight, the group decides to sneak out, and they make it to the Surface without a hitch. It doesn't take too long before they find the monsters. But something is very, very wrong. Halla and her friends have to head back to The Oasis before a new wave of monsters – bigger and more murderous than before – make it back and kill all her friends and family. They must round up the Unnaturals to stand up for themselves and fight. When they return home, they are met with the same adversity as before, and it only makes Halla angry. Why will the Council not allow them to fight for their freedom? When Halla is shot down by the very leaders that should protect The Oasis once again, something in Halla snaps, and she knows what needs to be done. It's time to take matters into their own hands.
