But as he enjoys this slice of ordinary happiness, his darker past and dangerous profession come into focus. Away from Still Valley, he is revealed to be a covert government contractor, tasked with black operations that blur the line between patriotism and assassination. His latest assignment—to eliminate Li Jing, the daughter of a Chinese crime lord, and her young son—tests the boundaries of his morality. Struggling between duty and conscience, he begins to suspect that even his circumstances may be part of a larger setup. Torn between the serenity of Still Valley and the shadows of his lethal profession, he must decide whether to follow the path of violence he knows or embrace the new life—and love—that Still Valley seems to promise. I have thought a lot about it. I loved your character development, the descriptions, the suspense, the love story, hope, drama, everything. I still have a smile on my face. -Nancy S.
