The Ballad of Calle and Maja — a short story
Calle wants a love relationship that will last, but so far he only managed one-night stands and brief amorous affairs.
Then one day, Calle hears that Maja has a crush on him. Maja is a beautiful woman. Calle's friends consider her to be too much of a flirt for him. Calle becomes unsure about whether to make a move for a date to ignore her amorous or flirtatious overture.
He remains however flattered and fascinated by Maja's crush and even becomes infatuated.
There is a problem, however. As Calle´s affection grows, the fear of failing becomes a reality. Obtaining Maja's love is now a matter of life and death. Calle bears psychological scars sustained after venturing on an online cat-fishing net that almost took him to the cleaners. He hadn't seen the warning signs. Calle was lonely, desperate, and vulnerable.
Calle finds the courage to ask Maja out, but the situation has changed. However, Calle remains hopeful. Will his hope aid him to obtain his wish of everlasting love? It will be a challenge to which Calle sets himself up.
