Steve Miller apre per la prima volta i suoi archivi musicali e pubblica una serie di composizioni rimaste sinora inedite.
Welcome to the Vault è un box set (3CD + DVD) che riassume l'intera carriera con 52 tracce audio nei 3 CD e 21 performance nel DVD. La collection è particolarmente interessante per i 38 rari brani che comprendono 5 composizioni inedite, versioni "alternate" delle sue classiche canzoni e tracce dal vivo; questo e molto altro in un elegante cofanetto con book di 100 pagine con foto dall'archivio personale di Miller e note bio-discografiche a cura del giornalista David Fricke.
Il DVD contiene 21 brani dal vivo con performance tratte dal Monterey Pop Festival (1967), dal Don Kirshner's Rock Concert (1973), dall'ABC In Concert (1974), da un concerto del 1970 al Fillmore West filmato per la TV Olandese, dal Pine Knob Michigan (1982), quindi Steve Miler e Les Paul al Fat Tuesdays (1990), per finire con l'Austin City Limits del 2011. Il deluxe set include inoltre 10 plettri per chitarra con il Pegasus logo di Steve, un poster e la replica di un backstage pass sempre dagli archivi di Steve Miller.
Contemporaneamente al box set vengono pubblicate le due Selections from the Vault, una singola antologia in CD ed una in vinile, che riassumono il contenuto di "Welcome to the Vault" includendo gli highlight del cofanetto.
