Glen Tate, a brilliant and urbane solicitor, happened to see an opportunity to make easy money. Over a five year period, he had persuaded some of his business acquaintances to invest in a Bitcoin venture he had started. Naturally, he selected his investors very carefully; all were well off, and none had any deep understanding of how Bitcoin worked. Yet, the lure of massive returns had piqued the investor's interest. However, after five years of not seeing a cent, some of the investors were getting nervous. One in particular, Ralph DeVittie, a high-profile, ruthless criminal, wanted Tate's head. Tate knew he was under pressure, either pay the original money back, plus interest, totalling over $40 million. Or do a runner. He chose the easy way out. The investors hired a local private investigator, Merv Shultz, who had a series of successful high-profile cases under his belt. And some not so successful ones. To complicate the investigation, Tate and his girlfriend, Ivanka, fled the country to Eastern Europe. Sadly for the thieving couple, Ivanka is kidnapped by a local gang that targets beautiful women and sells them to various illegal brothels around Europe. In the snatching, Tate was badly wounded while trying to help Ivanka. Merv has to pick up the pieces of the investigation, where the story heats up as he eventually finds himself in Albania and then Germany. Immediately, he's conflicted by the possible rescue of Ivanka and/or the retrieval of the Bitcoin fortune. There are plenty of twists and turns along the way, and some fascinating characters for the reader to enjoy. The story quickens with a surprising conclusion.
