Descrizione

Flight Planning looks like an arithmetic paper. It is failed on reading: the right method on the wrong row, the wrong column or the wrong line of a chart legend. 42 questions. 120 minutes. 75% to pass. Subject 033 asks 118 learning objectives for 42 marks, and almost every objective is a skill you will use on every flight of your career. And the fuel rules changed in 2022 while the syllabus stood still. ATPL Flight Planning and Monitoring is a complete revision guide and question bank for the EASA and UK CAA airline transport pilot licence theory examination, written by an airline captain and Chief Flight Instructor, and built on all 118 learning objectives for Subject 033. It teaches the charts on charts of its own. The examination supplies route manual charts and a data annex no book can reproduce, so this one draws an invented region with its own charts, and three aeroplanes of its own — a single-engine piston, a light twin and a medium-range jet. Every worked example uses the same data, so the navigation log in Chapter 2 feeds the fuel plan in Chapter 6. The numbers differ from the annex; the method is identical. What is inside Where the marks are, on one page: IFR planning and fuel carry 24 of the 42 marks. 210 practice questions with worked explanations — 168 through the chapters, plus a 42-question mock examination paper weighted exactly as the real paper is, built only from objectives the chapters did not test. No question is asked twice. The confusable pairs and Traps, and why they work in every chapter: MEA and MOCA, MINIMUM FUEL and MAYDAY FUEL. On the day. One flight per chapter, running the method through a real operation. 74 clear diagrams drawn for this book: the en-route chart and its minimum altitudes, the eight items of the fuel scheme and the point of equal time. Every figure sourced, in Numbers you must own**. Self-check pages, a glossary and a 199-entry index. ** Eight chapters covering the whole syllabus: VFR charts and the VFR route; the navigation log; IFR en-route charts; departure, arrival and approach charts; fuel arithmetic; the fuel scheme; pre-flight preparation and the ATS flight plan; and the point of equal time, the point of safe return and in-flight replanning. Written for the paper you are actually sitting. The book follows the 2026 EASA syllabus and says plainly where older textbooks differ: the fuel/energy scheme of Regulation (EU) 2021/1296; the new meaning of extra fuel; and the flight plan filing times as amended in 2023. Beyond the EU and UK. Written to the EASA ATPL(A) learning objectives, which also underpin the ATPL theory examinations of the United Arab Emirates (GCAA), Qatar (QCAA), Oman, Türkiye (SHGM), Singapore (CAAS), Malaysia (CAAM), Hong Kong (CAD), Sri Lanka (CAASL), Thailand (CAAT) and Pakistan (PCAA). A page at the front shows the paper this book serves with each authority and what to add from local sources. It also serves the related SACAA (South Africa) and DGCA (India) papers. A revision guide, not a course of training: enrolment with an Approved Training Organisation remains a legal prerequisite. It contains no questions from any question bank — every question was written for this book. Its charts, aerodromes and aeroplanes are fictional and must never be used to plan or conduct a flight. One of fourteen books in the Mastering ATPL series, one for each ATPL(A) theory subject, all written to the same pattern.
