Klingenberg Press, 2026

His parents hired the Boogeyman to teach him a lesson—but this boy refuses to scare easily. After refusing his peas, tracking mud across the rug, and talking back to his parents, one stubborn boy receives a serious warning: if he does not behave, his father will call an old friend—the Boogeyman. The boy is certain his dad made the whole thing up. But when a hairy creature creeps through his closet door that night, he grabs his high-powered flashlight and prepares to face whatever goes bump in the dark.Unfortunately for the Boogeyman, this fearless child is more likely to laugh than scream. The strange creature tries to grin, growl, hiss, and leer, but the boy is not impressed. Then the Boogeyman reveals a startling secret: he was once a naughty child himself—until another Boogeyman transformed him into the monster he is today. The boy promises to do better, but before the night is over, he thinks of a clever way to turn the tables on the parents who hired the Boogeyman in the first place.Filled with playful rhymes, spooky nighttime scenes, laugh-out-loud surprises, and a mischievous final twist, Boogeyman for Hire is a delightfully creepy picture book about courage, consequences, family, and why frightening children may not be the best way to encourage good behavior.Perfect for Halloween reading, bedtime story time, classroom read-alouds, and children who enjoy funny monsters, brave kids, and not-too-scary adventures.
