They have conjured something terrifying which now stalks the building. Only a strange young woman who arrives just as things are about to escalate further knows the truth. And she is here to stop the abomination as quietly as possible, or if not, kill everyone in the building to cover up the episode from the outside world. Deadline – A down on her luck artist's agent thinks she has stumbled across a client who can turn her fortunes around. But maverick eighties artist Oscar Merrick is unable to paint. Still obsessed as he is by his dead wife and muse. Pushed to the limits of his sanity, Merrick summons the agent to his studio with the promise of 'something wonderful.' But when she arrives, Merrick has abandoned his paints and brushes for something more deadly to create his masterpiece. Ship – The lone survivor of a brutal alien attack is trapped aboard his spaceship with only the vessel's dispassionate computer for help. Trapped on the ship's flight deck, he knows the creature is out there somewhere, but the computer is unable to locate the beast. Much to his growing horror, as things progress, he begins to suspect the computer might be somehow complicit not only in the death of his crew mates, but the creature being on board in the first place. The impossible camera. A novella – In early Edwardian England, a young police detective is called to a seemingly run of the mill burglary in a private museum, where a priceless necklace was stolen. However, the windowless room housing the exhibit was locked with no signs of forced entry and only an anachronistic photograph attached to the wall as a clue. The subject of which is a simple room, nothing special, banal in fact. But it appears to be in colour and with a sharpness of detail impossible in that day and age. As the detective delves deeper into the strange photograph, he becomes entangled in a clandestine world of international espionage, shady government departments and dealings with a mysterious engineer willing to sell his sometimes-horrific creations to the highest bidder. All culminating in a horrific discovery in a para-military compound on the shores of the Thames dock lands and a desperate bid for escape.
