The Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions

di Elizabeth Cady Stanton (Autore)

Modern Library, 2027

The landmark declaration from the 1848 Seneca Falls Convention calling for women’s legal and political equality, introduced by New York Times bestselling author Mikki Kendall. First presented in July 1848 at the Seneca Falls Convention—the first women’s rights convention in the United States—the Declaration of Sentiments and Resolutions became a defining document of the emerging women’s rights movement in America. Modeled on the Declaration of Independence, it asserted that “all men and women are created equal” and called for changes to women’s political, legal, and social status, including the right to vote. With a new introduction by bestselling author Mikki Kendall, this edition invites readers to consider the text’s ideas about equality, representation, and democracy in a contemporary context.
