The island itself was depicted as a marvel of engineering, with concentric rings of water and land, magnificent temples, and harbors that could accommodate vast fleets of ships. The story, as Plato tells it, was passed down through generations, originating from the Egyptian priests who shared their ancient records with Solon, the great Athenian lawgiver. Solon supposedly brought this knowledge back to Athens, where it eventually reached Plato through his family lineage. This chain of transmission has been both the foundation of belief in Atlantis and the source of scholarly skepticism about its historical reality.
