KING ARTHUR - Ultimate Collection gathers ten books that trace the Arthurian legend across medieval romance, Victorian poetic reimagining, popular retelling, antiquarian inquiry, and illustrated narrative. Its range reveals Arthur not as a fixed historical personage but as a mutable cultural emblem: warrior-king, courtly ideal, tragic ruler, and subject of historical speculation. Foundational chivalric prose, lyrical idylls, accessible myths, and discussions of the legend's possible origins together illuminate enduring episodes of Camelot, the Round Table, quest, betrayal, and decline. The volume brings together writers and scholars whose work spans several centuries of Arthurian revival. Thomas Malory's synthesis of French and English romance stands beside Victorian treatments shaped by medievalism, moral reflection, and national imagination, while later adapters make the cycle available to broad modern audiences. Contributors including Alfred Tennyson, Maude L. Radford, James Knowles, Richard Morris, T. W. Rolleston, and Howard Pyle demonstrate how philology, literary adaptation, children's literature, and visual storytelling have continually reshaped inherited myth. Recommended for students and general readers alike, this collection offers an unusually rich portal into Arthurian tradition. Its juxtaposed texts encourage comparison across genres, periods, and interpretive purposes, making the volume valuable both for study and for the pleasure of encountering Camelot's many lives.
