Loving Monday

di JOHN D. BECKETT (Autore)

IVP, 2006

Instead of grinding it out until Friday and living only for weekends, a successful Ohio manufacturing executive has seen how his work can be filled with meaning and purpose. The key is integrating his work and beliefs. As a result, both grow--along with his love for Mondays. When Peter Jennings and ABC News wanted to do a story on John Beckett's company, Beckett's reaction was immediate and unqualified: "No way. We're not going to let ABC News barge into the R. W. Beckett Corporation, shoot a lot of footage, extract a few sound bites and say whatever they want to say about us on national TV!"But Beckett reconsidered and took a chance because he had a message and he wanted others to hear it. The message is simple: that living examples of integrity and excellence are needed more than ever in the workplace and in the marketplace. That you can love your work, be a person of principle and succeed.Jennings summarized the story that later aired on ABC by saying, "They are using the Bible as a guide to business." In Loving Monday Beckett fleshes out this theme, explaining how his company still uses the same truths that have guided individuals and civilations for centuries. He shows how these time-tested truths can be applied faithfully and successfully in today's fast-paced, high-tech, market-driven world.Beckett brings all of life together: work, belief, value, character, relationship, truth, worship and joy. For accountants, day-care operators, sales managers, CEOs of mega-corporations, hospital administrators, pastors, plumbers and police chiefs, he offers biblically-grounded, practically-minded principles on succeeding in business without "selling out." His book will be a cherished companion for all who love their work or want to.
