Virgin River meets Yellowstone against the breathtaking, rugged backdrop of West Texas in this compelling, spin-off of New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas's Ransom Canyon saga--now a Netflix series starring Minka Kelly and Josh Duhamel--filled with love, challenges, and a timeless passion for the land and its people. Over a century ago, the founders of Marigold, Texas, envisioned a thriving ranch town. It neared extinction instead--until a surprise multimillion dollar bequest from the local curmudgeon propelled it straight into the 21st century, along with a whole new generation--and no loss of Wild West spirit . . . Named for its benefactor, The Elmer Otis Memorial Hospital, aka ELMO, is the beating heart of Marigold. Besides being state-of-the-art, it's known as a compassionate place to heal. That's no small thanks to Chief Medical Officer and Houston transplant Dr. Louis Maddison . . . a man whom Ob/gyn Lucy Logan hoped never to see again. One phone call changes all that. Lucy hasn't visited her hometown in far too long, but her beloved father has suffered an injury. In a flash, she's on the road, her calico cat, Trace, in tow, with hours ahead to ruminate over her past with Louis and the accident that tore them apart--and ended his days as a surgeon. Louis knows compassion wasn't always his strength. But his own challenges, and Marigold, have changed him. The Big-City-Physician is "Dr. Maddie" now. Yet the unexpected sight of Lucy at ELMO proves some things haven't changed at all. The same could be said of the townsfolk . . . Passions still run deep--and divided--about Marigold's wild horse round-ups years ago. Now a rumor persists that an exotic wild horse may be on the loose in the hills. As the intrigue thickens, everyone gets caught up in the romance of possibilities. Lucy, always a believer in signs, wonders if the past and present can come together anew . . . if she can believe in this suddenly softer Louis. She listens for a sign in the wind. It sounds like wild horses.
