What happens when multiple prophecies appear to contradict each other? When the bad ones come to fruition, and the good ones seem to grow less and less relevant? The subtle battle between land and sea isn't so subtle anymore when secrets are exposed and evil only triumphs over and over again. Polaris still holds his title as Imperial Advisor to Empress Ariana, but his position in the palace is next to useless. Meanwhile, Ivanna loses allies left and right, and some even betray her. Quickly, freeing the ocean princess Nadia from slavery becomes a hopeless ambition, especially when Rein Bow starts to experience prophetic dreams again, and they seems to contradict the Royal Dream with Nadia never seeing freedom. But trouble doesn't only exist among Nadia's allies. Empress Ariana faces her own threats when her late husband's firstborn becomes engaged, and the Royal Order begins to grow. Ivanna becomes a larger concern when she sends troops to an enemy country, and the ties of her own allies appear to fray at the ends. Then, there's Nadia: the subject of the dream she'd shared with her late husband. She still lives, and could still marry her son. A mermaid. A fish. A slave. But she swore not to put a death sentence on the child...
