Power versus power deals addresses issues of the fundamentals of deliverance- man, the beast, the fight, the Lord & the freedom. In Luke 4v18, the Lord Jesus Christ was sent fourth to preach deliverance to the captives, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to... preach deliverance to the captives..." The core course on why the Lord Jesus Christ came to the earth was to save mankind or "set the spiritual captives free," and that is deliverance. Bear in mind that Jesus' ministry was threefold; he taught, conducted healing and miracles, and cast out demons. It can be argued that although Christ died on the cross of Calvary to set the captives free; the whole human race, one way or the other, is still on the receiving end up to today from Satan who happens to be the "god of this world" and his demonic forces. Up to today, Jesus Christ is the word of God that destroys any of "the works of the devil" in one's life if he simply believes that word and act on it by faith. Surprisingly, many people who are in spiritual chains are unable to get free on their own. The question is why? The answer might be that; either they do not know how or because they do not understand the spirit realm and demonic activities. Then who shoulders the blame? The likely culprit is that, the Church has slept on its job, by not teaching Christians about the dark world and demonic forces. The other factor might be the erroneous teachings by most preachers that a Christian cannot be afflicted or possessed by demons. Thus Christians who have the right to be free are still held captive because of these serious blunders from the "called" shepherds. Therefore, in being freed from captivity, acknowledge that power has to face power, and the battle field is your soul (the mind) Ephesians 6v12. Thus deliverance ministry's role is to bring spiritual victory and freedom to individuals who are in bondage, thus restoration to their original capacity of functionality that God had destined them to be.
