Game-changing potential? Yes. The maturity required to reach said potential? Not quite yet. And especially not in light of the many imperfections which (still) haunt the space. From the cringeworthy cult-like behavior exhibited by far too many enthusiasts and influencers alike. To the scams which still run rampant and, let's face it, are by and large tolerated by the community. After all, when prices are going up, who cares about the occasional nuisance? Unfortunately, there is more to Bitcoin reaching its true potential than "number go up" narratives. With price appreciation being necessary but nowhere near sufficient. In the spirit of precisely that understanding, this book is all about loving Bitcoin with open eyes. In other words, understanding that being a true supporter does not require abandoning any and all reason. On the contrary! The more mature the average marker participant becomes, the more robust the foundation of the Bitcoin ecosystem can be considered. In a nutshell: chasing a quick buck and not asking questions can represent individual solutions that lead to enrichment, fair enough. But, collectively, the Bitcoin world would be sacrificing long-term sustainability for short-term gains by continuing to go down this path. At the end of the day, the jury is still out with respect to the manner in which the Bitcoin community chooses to define itself. Can the market decide that becoming a glorified casino is enough for Bitcoin? Of course. But in my view, for the reasons outlined throughout this book and many more, it would be a downright shame. Thus, I am doing everything in my power to encourage a sustainability-oriented perspective on Bitcoin, whether we are dealing with policymakers or the average investor. Is meaningfully understanding Bitcoin a walk in the park? No. But through this book and by leveraging my experience as (hopefully) one of the most respected economic educators out there, I believe I have managed to put just the right dose of information on the table. And, I might add, on all fronts. From understanding just enough about the technology to understanding just enough about the way things work in the proverbial ecosystem. I am not here to impress by over-complicating things in a manner conducive to branding myself as the smartest guy in the room. In fact, if there is anything I have learned throughout my experience as an opinion former thus far, it's that dumbing things down is the way to go. Make no mistake, one does not have to be or become a cypherpunk to truly "get" Bitcoin. The right information correlated with a much-needed dose of common sense is all it takes. And through The Reasonable Case for Bitcoin, I believe I have provided both. I have been educating anyone who cares to listen on all matters economics-related on YouTube (One Minute Economics) and various other platforms for years. I have written bestsellers such as The Age of Anomaly, arguably "the" resource for those interested in analyzing the economic calamities of the past. My work has been featured at the highest levels, from the best of the best in terms of universities to central banks, mainstream media outlets, alternative media outlets and even TV as well as radio shows. My key ingredient? I focus on what works, I live to simplify (!) and my approach to financial education just plain delivers. The Reasonable Case for Bitcoin will not represent an exception.
