Extremely rare account of the proceedings (Acta Capituli) of the Provincial Chapter of the Augustinian Order of Quito, Ecuador, held in the Convent of St. Augustine on the 23^rd and 24^th of July 1681. The text, published in Rome by the typography of the Apostolic Chamber, includes the election of various general offices, as well as those of the individual houses of the Order in Ecuador and the professors of the University of San Fulgencio.

The Order of Saint Augustine arrived in Quito in 1573, following a decree by Philip II, with two friars, Luis Álvarez de Toledo and Gabriel de Saona, who oversaw the construction of a church and a convent. The Augustinian Province of San Miguel de Quito was established by the Lima provincial chapter in 1579, but was declared fully autonomous in 1586. Unlike the Franciscans, Dominicans and Jesuits, the Augustinians opted to centralise their missionary activities in Quito, particularly with regard to education, first at the Colegio Nicolás Tolentino and later at the Universidad San Fulgencio.
