An elegant postcard set highlighting the groundbreaking Vienna Secession design journal Die Fläche In the first decade of the 20th century, Vienna's leading modernists and their students developed a bold graphic style that sparkled with the spirit of a new age. Debuting their prints and posters in a periodical they called Die Fläche (German for "The Surface"), graphic artists of the Secession directed design away from older Art Nouveau forms and toward bold experiments with flat colors, elementary shapes and expressive lettering.
