By selecting countries from across the geopolitical landscape and using a common methodological framework for a quantitative and qualitative analysis of the news in each country, contributors are able to draw clear comparisons and contrasts throughout the book. The analyses reveal both common and nation-specific themes and angles, demonstrating an unfettered relationship between news media and government and identifying geopolitical tensions and allegiances. Along with a substantive introduction, methodological framework, conclusion, and reflective epilogue, the collective chapters in this book consider how these cases speak to perennial issues across the globe.
