Sometimes, there is someone who becomes popular while not fitting the conventional mode of growth. We may find ourselves at odds, also, between what we see and intuit, vs what some or more have to say, as "marketers": Consider the sociologist Marth Beck Ph.D. for more on this. This audiobook features brief talks on over twenty-five great contributors to society. Included are Maxwell Maltz, Albert Schweitzer MD, Billy Graham, Joel Osteen, Rabbi Abraham Twerski MD, and many others. Richard Feynman, the physicist, addresses the topic of keeping an open mind, also: "Great Minds: Richard Feynman - The Uncertainty Of Knowledge": https://youtu.be/QkhBcLk_8f0?si=e6MiAR6qC2_FDsm_ "Feynman: Take the world from another point of view (1/4)": https://youtu.be/PsgBtOVzHKI?si=efBgH4ipcAAawxrn These individuals may have a path in life that most everyone else would never seek to "choose". Why? Because we tend to pursue the "low-hanging fruit", I would maintain, not the high-hanging fruit. Yet something apparently has blocked the path of a fewer number of persons, from pursuing this "lower" fruit. Consider the story of how bamboo grows: it is said, that bamboo grows solely underground, its first five years: then, all of a sudden, it shoots up some 90 feet, that fifth year, in a mere few months. In the meanwhile, the "planter" is wondering, fretting, and questioning: is my "crop" going to "bear fruit"? Is this going to pay off? Am I Job, so goes the story in the Christian bible: should I hang in there? In the movie "Gore Vidal: The United States of Amnesia", he said: "In every generation, there are a few unfortunate souls who are condemned, practically at birth, to be that absolute absurdity; a writer for life." Why would he have said this? Perhaps because it is not easy to be a person who is vulnerable, especially in younger years, when one is learning a more suitable - a more respectful - set of words. (See Dale Carnegie's book "The Art of Winning Friends and Influencing People", for his "take" on how Abraham Lincoln was learning this, and how Mr. Carnegie was so fascinated by this concept, that he spent years, studying solely Abraham Lincoln. As such, perhaps what Mr. Vidal was referring to, was a path in which we find ourselves pursuing the "high-hanging fruit", due, once again, other avenues - the "low" fruit - being cut off: often, say, by an illness or a handicap, or say, in the case of Brene Brown, constant moves, up until the end of high school. Or perhaps one was an immigrant and not ensconced with one's "kind"; or, say, in the case of Gore Vidal, being "invalided out" of the military, and struggling, also, with the effects of one's mother having struggles with alcohol. Some of the persons mentioned in this audiobook are of "religious"; others are scientists; still others, .... Surely, "It takes a village"; and there is the phrase "All is grist for the mill". I make mention of Oskar Pfister, thus, who was perhaps the only "religious" person - a pastor - whom Freud not only tolerated, but loved and cherished. An excellent article is this one: "Freud and Pfister: A Love Story", by Dr. Nathaniel R. Strenger, PsyD https://thecentercounseling.org/freud-and-pfister-a-love-story/ A copy of the correspondence between Pfister and Freud can be obtained here, free of charge: "Psychoanalysis and Faith: the Letters of Sigmund Freud and Oskar Pfister": https://archive.org/details/psychoanalysisfa00freu We might also consider: "Chapter 8 The Illusion of the Future: A Friendly Dispute with Professor Sigmund Freud": https://brill.com/display/book/edcoll/9789004429222/BP000008.xml "This is the article written by Oskar Pfister, the Swiss Reform Church pastor and psychoanalyst who was a close friend of Sigmund Freud. A selection of their letters are discussed in another chapter of this volume. This article is Pfister’s review of Freud’s book, The Future of an Illusion, that w
