In a dark and captivating atmosphere, a mental analyst and his patient—a calculating and eccentric man—engage in a series of unsettling conversations about power, manipulation, and contempt as a hidden force within human nature. This patient, who calls himself "the madman," has woven a web of deceit within London's elite, infiltrating the circle of powerful investors to carry out a plan that promises to bring him a fortune. Through his machinations, he positions Mr. Kurt Kendall, his "commercial representative," as a respected, almost aristocratic figure, achieved with carefully calculated luxuries, such as bespoke suits, luxury cars, and strategic connections in Parliament. The madman manipulates the emotions of those around him, establishing the influence necessary to amass a network of partners and allies to his own advantage. Among them is Nicole Cover, the most beautiful and intelligent young woman in all of Britain, who soon becomes Kendall's romantic interest. However, amid this seemingly fortunate relationship, an emotional tension emerges, culminating in an unexpected tragedy: perhaps Nicole's disdain for Kendall's unknown past ultimately drives him to despair and, finally, to his death under mysterious circumstances—or is it merely coincidence? As the madman recounts the events, he reveals his ability to shape the destinies of others without fear of the consequences, trusting his meticulous plans to keep him unscathed in every situation. Despite his efforts to cover up the tragedy as an accident, the investigations persist, and the madman hints to the analyst that, while the case may be closed, the true cause of Kendall's death was not mere misfortune but rather "the absoluteness of contempt." Throughout the story, the reader is drawn into the mind of the madman, a character who probes the limits of morality and human psychology, wielding manipulation and disdain as weapons to control the reality around him. However, as his world, built on deceit and appearances, begins to crumble, the reader is left with a chilling question: how far can a person go when they have lost the ability to distinguish between the game of manipulation and the real harm caused by their actions?
