Beginners Guide to Mastering the Art of Sewing

A Visual Step By Step Guide to Using Sewing Machine for Kids & Grownups

This guide is designed to get you started sewing with a sewing machine the right way. Not only will you learn how to use your machine to sew, but also you will understand how it works. Knowing how a sewing machine works will help you to troubleshoot many problems you may encounter.

Wouldn't it be nice if you knew how to alter a dress that you absolutely love but can't wear it because it is too long or tight? What if you could learn how to hem a slack in less than 30 minutes? I bet you the possibilities are endless and before you know it, your wardrobe will become as big as your imagination. You will be able to wear what you couldn't fit into for years.

Sewing and creating beautiful wearables have become a large part of my life. Sewing is a great way to exercise the mind. It keeps your hand/eye coordination skills sharp and can be a great stress reliever. It's a double-edged sword, too, as it can be a cause of stress. "But, it's all in perspective," as I say.

My thoughts and opinions on sewing are varied. All I ask is that you bear with me keep an open mind, and it will be a fun experience. Keep in mind; there is more than one way of doing things. You will find your own way.

At a glance, here is what I show you in this book.

  • Basic Anatomy of a Sewing Machine
  • Buttons, Dial, Needles & Threads
  • 5 Steps to Threading your Machine
  • Baby Steps to Actually Sewing
  • Fabric Weave & Grain
  • Needle Anatomy
  • Types of Needles to use for various Projects
  • The Tension & Perfect Stitches
  • Seams
  • Tools & Tricks

And Much More

If you happen to take anything from this guide with you on your sewing journey, let it be this - if there is a more comfortable or more efficient way for you to do a particular step, as long as it safely and effectively creates the desired result, then do it.

When I first learned how to cut strips of bias tape, I found it to be too time-consuming. Instead of sticking with the method I originally learned, I sought out a different way of making them. Now, some people find this way to be faster, and some think the opposite.

Once again, it's all in my perspective. I do know that it's the way I have come to prefer to make my bias strips now.

So, ready to start your journey? Get your favorite coffee mug and a comfortable seat, and let's begin.....

"Hello, sewing machine, meet your new owner!"
