This audiobook is narrated by an AI Voice. Bev Hollister has a plan. Of course she does. After months of family mishaps across India, Japan, Greece, Rome, Egypt, and Kenya, the Hollisters have arrived in Oaxaca, Mexico, for an eight-week stay. This time, Doug has handed over the map—and Bev has taken charge. She has laminated schedules, color-coded cards, Spanish lessons for everyone, and one very important mission: to honour a promise made to her late husband, Walt. Walt always wanted to experience Mexico’s Day of the Dead, when families gather to remember those they have lost, bringing food, stories, and love. They never made the trip together. Now Bev is determined to make it happen, with the family beside her and a ham-and-Swiss sandwich on rye at the heart of the plan. There is just one small problem. Mexico does not run on Bev’s timetable. In the colorful streets of Oaxaca, the word “ahorita” can mean now, later, or—depending on who you ask—perhaps never. Meals happen when they happen, plans change, and a hairless dog named Chato decides that Bev is his person, whether she likes it or not. Meanwhile, Doug sets out to find rye bread in a city full of sweet pastries, Madison discovers a new friendship, Max dives into Mexican myths, and Jen watches the family learn to live with a little less certainty. As Bev’s carefully organized schedule meets the rhythms of a new place, she begins to discover that remembering someone is not about getting every detail right. It is about sharing stories, making room for unexpected friendships, and allowing love to take a different shape. Warm, witty, and full of affectionate family chaos, Bev Takes Mexico is the seventh book in The Hollister World Tour—a feel-good travel comedy about family, fresh starts, cultural discovery, and the beautiful ways we keep the people we love close. Join the Hollisters in Oaxaca for an adventure where the plan may fall apart, but the moments that matter find their way home.
