–It's you, isn't it? The handsome specimen of a man with dark sunglasses and a pointed pink nail froze. To the eclectic crowd passing by the Brunswick Street café in the late afternoon, he would have simply seemed like a cool, calm man behind a half-smile so naturally sexy it could stop traffic. Literally. But Hannah knew very well how things were. Hannah, who worked harder and longer hours than anyone she knew, would have bet her precious life savings that, behind those dark sunglasses, he was desperately hoping the woman pointing at him would quickly realize she'd mistaken him for someone else. However, he was not so lucky. "Yes, he is!" the woman continued, standing firmly on the cobblestone floor. "I know he is! He's the guy who does the TV show." Travelers . I've seen you in magazines and on TV. My daughter loves it. She's even considered training so she can be one of those people you send into the mountains with nothing but a toothbrush and a packet of chocolate biscuits. And that's saying something when it comes to my daughter, because it's impossible to get that kid off the couch! You know what? I should give her your number. She's quite pretty in her own way, and she's completely single... Sitting, seemingly invisible like a Ninja, at the far end of the desk that served as Knight Productions' office whenever the boss felt the need to leave the confines of his frenetic headquarters, Hannah had to cover her mouth to control the laughter that threatened to escape. At any given time of day, her boss was usually like the mountains he'd conquered before turning his attention to encouraging others to do so on television; he was colossal, tough, unwavering, indomitable, and enigmatic. Which was why seeing him blush and practically lose his ability to speak under the attentions of an overly affectionate fan was always a source of delight for her. It only took Hannah half a day of her year working for Bradley Knight to realize that excessive adoration was his Achilles' heel. Awards, industry accolades, overly flattering colleagues, overly attentive subordinates—it all turned him into a creature of stone. And then there were the fans. The many, many, many fans who knew a good thing when they saw it. And there was no doubt that Bradley Knight was six feet two inches of something very good. And so, the laugh that was tickling Hannah's throat turned into a small, uncomfortable lump. She became serious, cleared her throat, and shifted around in her wrought iron chair as she made herself more comfortable and, most importantly, thought about what to say.
