Hilarious follow-up to picture book Dave's Cave, from the winner of the Waterstones Children's Gift of the Year, Frann Preston-Gannon. Meet Dave, Caveman Dave. Dave love rock. Jon love rock, too. Dave's rock bigger. But Jon's rock faster. Who have best rock of all? In this funny and stylishly illustrated sequel to Dave's Cave, two lovable cavemen endeavour to make their rocks the very best they can - inventing, in the process, something rather remarkable. Written in hilarious caveman language that children will love to copy, Dave's Rock is laugh-out-loud funny and perfect for reading aloud. A stylish, witty picture book with a brilliant message about the perils of being too competitive and the joy of working together as a team instead. Frann Preston Gannon won the Waterstones Children's Gift of the Year and Red Magazine's Big Book award for I Am the Seed That Grew the Tree, which Julia Donaldson prasied as "an absolutely beautiful book." Frann is the author of The Journey Home, which was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children's Prize and nominated for the Kate Greenaway Medal. She was the first UK recipient of the Sendak Fellowship, awarded by Maurice Sendak, creator of picture book classic Where the Wild Things Are. "Dave's Rock has all the hallmarks of a bedtime classic . . . both feather light and deeply profound about the human desire to find something better . . . but also a poem to the joy of what is known, loved and a bit crumpled at the edges. - Telegraph Related activity sheets available on the Nosy Crow website.
