Drowning the Truth When a multi-billion-peso flood barrier collapses in Metro Manila, a powerful politician looks for a fall guy. They picked the wrong person to blame. During the height of a Signal No. 3 typhoon, the newly built riverwall at Barangay Plaza Real crumbles like wet sand, submerging an entire neighborhood under dirty floodwaters. To cover up a massive corruption scheme, Congressman Vicente Dolatre frames Mang Alex Salvador—a quiet, 64-year-old community leader—accusing him of sabotaging public property. Jeanine Concepcion is twenty-five, running on melted iced coffee, exhaustion, and the painful memory of losing her own home to a flooded river years ago. As a day-job paralegal and law student by night, she works alongside Atty. Hector, a tired public interest lawyer operating out of a cramped Manila office. Determined to save Mang Alex, Jeanine steps into the mud to find out what really happened. What she discovers isn't just poor engineering—it's a dangerous paper trail of stolen millions, substandard cement, and greed that puts thousands of lives at risk. Facing subtle threats, bad weather, and a system stacked against regular people, Jeanine must find the courage to stand up and speak out. Because when the storm clears and the floodwaters recede, she isn't just trying to clear an innocent man's name—she's proving that regular people can still fight back. Heartfelt, fast-paced, and deeply grounded in daily Philippine life, Drowning the Truth is an accessible novella about urban resilience, corruption, and finding your voice when everything is under water.
