I happen to think that being a product manager is one of the best jobs out there. I find it to be very satisfying because I'm in charge of the success of a product. If I do the right things, then my product will be selected by a large number of customers and it will solve their problems. If I don’t do my job right, my company will probably decide to stop offering my product after a while. Ultimately, my career is in my hands. The way that we land a product manager job is by having a resume that does the work for us. How to create such a resume is a skill that we all have to learn. We don't know it all and so in order to help us to make the right decisions, it can be helpful to find a mentor who is willing to give us good advice. Once we've landed the right job, our work is not over. We need to understand how to get things done effectively and multitasking is not the answer. Additionally, if despite our hard work we get passed over for the next promotion we need to have a plan as to what our next steps are going to be.
