Troubador Publishing, 2026

A story. Or several stories. An unprecedented approach to our species, our origins and progress, and history of our science, quirkily humorous but perceptive. Narration and interaction with our hero while he sleeps. A sci-fi odyssey and a philosophical excursion. Compelling. Homo sapiens: development is deviating from projections. This complex creature and its capabilities seemingly offer originality to the Intelligence, the ethereal galactic presence led by the Energy Masters. Unexpected after >10 billion Earth-years. Explanations are needed. Their sub-processor and Earth-centric specialist, 221, surely has answers. After 100,000 years with his Homo sapiens client, can 221 offer enlightenment? Jimbo knew that Edinburgh was a great place to flourish while studying science. Summer, 1996, had been pleasingly unexceptional, with friends in a wonderful city. Until 221 interrupted his sleep. Now we enter the tale of our reluctant hero protecting mammal cloning data from gangsters. Meanwhile, 221 must explain the client’s extraordinary growth, as the Energy Masters struggle from suspicion through bemusement to inconclusiveness. Fortunately, Jimbo is participating. A 100,000 years or 102 kyE of advancement, described to our hero in 100 seconds. Meet a few human magicians who made our today.
