The tenets by which Ecclesia Luciferi may be recognized. Satan is the traditional adversary of the Yahwist god, and the only figure to whom the name Satanism properly belongs.2. Satanism requires no belief in any supernatural being. It is defined by its relation to theism — by disbelief, by disobedience, by the refusal to recognize a god's claim on the human mind — not by worship of a rival god. Godless, amoral Nature — the unity of matter, energy, and self-regulating law, the whole of space-time and life — is the Amoral Satanic Absolute: an immanent, impersonal divinity, and the true opposite of every transcendent, anthropomorphic god; it is Non-God. Man is the consciousness and the eyes of this Absolute, born amoral by nature, not fallen from any prior holiness. Mind and body are one; man and Nature are one. Pride, selfishness, self-love, and egoism are not sins but instincts given by Nature for survival and for a dignified, fulfilled life. Individual responsibility for one's own conduct remains, nonetheless, a paramount principle. Good and evil are human categories, and often inadequate to Nature's workings, in which what matters is not morality but utility. Ecclesia Luciferi calls this residue of unresolved judgment — in Nature and in man alike — satanic, holding theology and psychology together in a single word. Death is not evil. It is Nature's indifferent, necessary, and ultimately good instrument of evolutionary development — the "last enemy" of theism, and a friend to the Pan-Satanist. Ecclesia Luciferi rejects self-deification pursued in isolation from the unity of all things. Whatever divinity a man finds in himself belongs first, and more fully, to the Nature that made him. Ecclesia Luciferi is cosmocentric, not anthropocentric: it worships no personal deity outside the self, and no deified image of the self either. Lucifer is the Light-Bearer: the archetype of rebellion against every god who claims absolute power over the human mind, and the patron of forbidden knowledge, of science, and of disobedience to imposed divine, social, and biological limitation. Transhumanism is Luciferianism's technological fulfillment: through reason, the product of blind evolution may transcend the process that produced it — extending life, strengthening the body, expanding the mind, and overcoming death, not through prayer but through chemistry, engineering, and information. To be a Pan-Satanist is to understand Nature's amoral laws well enough to use them — for wisdom, for power, and for one's own transcendence.
