My Kinda Work

Ugh, do I really have to go to work today? If that question sounds familiar, you're in the right place. Maybe your job leaves you empty. Maybe it's gone, handed to a reorg or a piece of software. Either way, the market you're walking into is stranger and more crowded than it was even a few years ago. Software reads your resume before a human does. Some of the postings aren't real. Thousands of people apply every minute. There's good news, though. The people who land work that fits them have one thing in common: a process. My Kinda Work is that process. Five steps, learned in the trenches over three decades and several very different job markets: Discovery. Do you really need a new job? What do you actually want, and which career paths will still be standing in ten years? Preparing. A resume that gets through the software and speaks to the human, a cover letter with your fingerprints on it, and an online first impression that works around the clock. Searching. Your network, the job boards worked with a plan, the hidden market where jobs get filled before they're ever posted, and the manners that carry all three. Interviewing. Research, practice out loud, showing up right in the room and on camera, and the curveballs: the surprise interview, the landmines, and the money question. Negotiating. Eight rules and the exact words for the most powerful moment you will ever have with an employer. Brandon Grieve ran this process to go from a broke young father bouncing between jobs, to senior IT engineer, to sales engineer, to Rep of the Year for his business unit at a Fortune 500 company, two years running. Same process, every time. He wrote it down for the people he'll never get to coach one at a time. It's written by a working salesperson and engineer rather than a career counselor. No history lesson. No pep talk. Just the plan, with a free companion workbook to run it, and one example career changer you follow from her first honest list all the way to the job offer. Who it's for: working adults who are unhappy at work, laid off, or ready to change fields, and anyone who would rather have a repeatable system for managing a career than hope for the best.
