For teenage Amphibious female Cameron Meyer, spying for the Concordance alliance was probably not her best decision. She was an InFed girl, an original settler of Europa and nominally under InFed control. But when she and her friends are taken into custody upon returning to Europa, Cameron knows she may have gone too far in trying to stop InFed from wrecking her adopted home of Europa. Now a prisoner at Chaos City, now run by Concordance, Cameron meets the Prime Councilor to the Ultrarch of the Concordance, one Semarilyn Paris. Paris makes her an offer: work as a spy and a double agent for Concordance inside a techno-anarchist group called Jove's Fist and her friends will be released. Cameron figures she has no real choice. Thus begins a series of special ops and attacks on InFed (and later Concordance) infrastructure of increasing destructiveness, all across the solar system. Cameron grows concerned, then appalled at what she has fallen into. Yet she finds herself increasingly attracted to the mission of Jove's Fist, a mission to preserve the solar system as it is and also attracted to an InFed soldier named Troy Tuolongo whose sworn duty is to oppose and stop her. Concordance wants to destroy InFed by streaming gaseous material off Saturn, bulking up Jupiter and igniting it as a second sun for the solar system. Jove's Fist is adamantly opposed and so is Cameron. Still assigned as a spy, Cameron finds her relationship with Semarilyn Paris, Jove's Fist and Troy Tuolongo growing steadily more complicated. When full-scale war breaks out between the alliances, Cameron struggles with divided loyalties. After extensive casualties across the solar system and an uneasy truce, Cameron wants nothing more to do with Concordance. She wants to be a teenager again, but Semarilyn Paris, now in full control of Concordance, has one more mission for her. It's a mission unlike any she has ever undertaken for Concordance and Jove's Fist. And it's a mission that she can't refuse. Third book in the trilogy Tales of Europa.
