Under the direction of Richard Savino, early music group El Mundo, performs Salir el Amor del Mundo by Sebastián Durón. This early zarzuelas tells the story of Cupid (Amor) who has brazenly entered the forest of the chaste huntress Diana. From the outset Diana declares war on Cupid, in the opening chorus she and her minions shout: Muera Cupido! (Death to Cupid!). She then summons the Gods Apollo, Mars, and Jupiter to assist her in her pursuit, each of who has a confrontational moment with Venus' offspring. Eventually Cupid is captured and is banished to a cave.
