Il 2018 è il 50° anniversario di un anno fondamentale per l’etichetta Stax e per la storia americana: il 1968. Un periodo seguito alla prematura scomparsa di Otis Redding (avvenuta nel dicembre del ’67), l’anno in cui la Stax affiancava la Atlantic Records, e l’anno dell’assassinio di Martin Luther King a Memphis. Questo fantastico box di 5CD raccoglie tutti i singoli (A- e B- side) pubblicati dalla Stax (e dalle sue affiliate) nel ’68: più di 120 pezzi entrati nel mito firmati dagli artisti più rappresentativi di quel periodo, come Otis Redding, the Staple Singers, William Bell, Carla Thomas, Booker T. and the M.G.’s, Johnnie Taylor, Albert King, Linda Lindell, Isaac Hayes, Rufus Thomas e molti altri. Il box contiene un libro di 56 pagine con testi della storiografa di Memphis Andria Lisle, dello storico della Stax Records Robert Gordon, del celebre produttore Steve Greenberg e molte fotografie inedite dagli archivi dell’etichetta.
