Just as he prepared to pull the trigger, the ghostly form of Patrick Sullivan materialized, distracting Grimes long enough for authorities to intervene. In the aftermath, a remorseful Patrick's spirit lingered briefly to explain his reasons for entrusting the investigation to Robert before passing on, his eternal soul finally at peace.
