Ci sono pochi documenti su pellicola che raccontano un artista rock all’apice della sua carriera e ancora meno che fanno luce sugli esordi. Per l’album “I’m the Man”, Joe Jackson ha continuato a cantare canzoni di rabbia e vendetta, stavolta però accompagnate anche da bellissime ballate come ‘It’s Different for Girls’ e ‘Amateur Hour’. È in questo periodo che si esibisce per la prima volta nella performance “Rockplast” nel marzo 1980. Il concerto ad Amburgo nel febbraio 1983 mostra l’artista nella sua migliore forma: i ritmi latini di ‘Target’, ‘TV age’ e ‘Another World’ hanno deliziato gli spettatori quando ancora nessuno conosceva il genere World Music. La straordinaria esibizione al Grugahalle Essen nell’aprile 1983 ha concluso il periodo d’oro di Jackson. Il medley anni 60 della Motown fu proposto un quarto di secolo prima che tutti (compreso Phil Collins) si cimentassero in questa grande eredità.
