    Johnjoe McFadden è docente di Genetica molecolare alla University of Surrey. Specializzato nello studio della tubercolosi e della meningite, ha pubblicato libri di testo fondamentali per questo settore della ricerca e ha inventato il primo test diagnostico per la meningite, premiato con il Royal Society Wolfson Research Merit Award.
