Shakespeare in the Parking Lot is an anthology of the three plays author and screenwriter Peter Fenton developed during his undergraduate years at Wheaton College. They decide to kidnap the sassy college intern who is also hunting for the treasure. The plays themselves have a distinct tone and style that is written for the "inner child" rather than for children in general, with wacky worlds and colorful characters inspired by Disney and Nintendo paired with the cutting wit and humor of Arrested Development. Throughout the book, Fenton reflects in 2021 through a series of essays detailing the writing process and personal growth tied to each play.
