But reality eventually beckons and our protagonist finds himself back home again, shell shocked as Europe fades into memory and his attempts at a long-distance relationship with Tina crumble. Feeling himself dwindling, even as his brother recovers, he thinks of Lyle, an ex of Tina's who he had met briefly in Paris and who is now in London. Once again he steps into a new city and a new kind of love that, while imperfect, offers him hope for change. Taking in the sensual beauty of these places and the bodies that fill them, this is a gorgeous story of the way that different relationships can crack us open and reshape us - how young love can be transformative, even if it isn't forever.
