The reason she was afraid of him, that he could discover her guilty secret and take her son away. Her carefully constructed life could disappear all at once if he learned too much. After an additional investigation last night, she had discovered that he was ex-military, a former CIA agent, and had been looking for his brother for eleven years. "I don't think you could handle me," she whispered seductively in his ear. As curiosity gave way to confusion, Samantha slipped past him and into the kitchen. "It's not because you attacked me at a weak moment yesterday that I'm interested in you."
