A N.D is a doctor of naturopathic medicine, and they are recognized and licensed in a number of states. Herbalists understand how herbs act to treat certain ailments in the body. The body is like a small ecosystem unto itself, and everything is balanced just right. When some part of the body becomes unbalanced, herbs can be used to help restore balance again
