A retelling of the classic fairytale, Ella's mother always told her growing up to never venture into the forest behind the house for fear of the fairies that were supposed to live amongst the ancient trees. She would tell Ella all of the stories, the fairytales and folklore passed down through the generations, of people venturing into the woods in search of what only the fairies could give them, of the fairies offering them all they could ever want, but expecting a terrible price in return, and of all the misery and pain that always seemed to come in the wake of the deal. And, when Ella lost her mother on her sixth birthday, those stories became all she had left of her mother. Since then, it was just Ella and her father. That is until Ella's father returns from his work overseas with a woman and her two children, having remarried. Soon, Ella finds that her only choice is to seek out the fairies in the forest that her mother warned her about and, in doing so, discovers why her mother was so insistent she never venture into the forest. The fairies will expect payment, but Ella will pay whatever price, do whatever she has to, to make things right again. Even if it means spending a night walking in glass slippers.
